Photo Hunt Wednesday

I was driving around in an unfamiliar neighborhood, when I happened upon this intersection...

* Answer Key:  "At the stop sign, turn onto Henderson.  Actually, you're already on Henderson, so just keep following Henderson.  Unless you're on the wrong Henderson, in which you should turn onto the other Henderson."

Photo Hunt Wednesday

I was doing a casual perusing of Facebook today when one of the ads on the side bar caught my attention.  Because?  Well, you can probably decide that for yourself...

* Answer Key:  I'm not.  I can't.  I just, don't understand.

Photo Hunt Wednesday

Today at work, I was walking down a hallway I don't usually travel, and stumbled upon a magical land...

Photo Hunt

Sometimes, after a long day at work, all I want to do is sit down with a cold beer, a box with a tiny child inside, and stare longingly into the distance.  AmIRight?

And, with that, I present today's Photo Hunt...

* Answer Key: what?  I don't understand what's so funny, why are you laughing? You don't have a print of this in your home??

(A big thanks to my friend Jenny for alerting me to this mural, which is so normal it's almost mundane.)

Photo Hunt Friday

Having a car has really allowed me to explore my city in new and thrilling ways. To look for exciting adventures beyond the public-transportation-friendly locales.  For example, just last weekend I was able to visit that new, suburban Safeway I'd been wanting to try!

In the spirit of adventure, I present a grocery-store-themed Photo Hunt...

Photo Hunt Thursday

Happy Thursday!  I'm sure everyone's busy preparing for Carrie Day (it's Saturday, but don't worry -- I've already received the only gift I need this year).  So, I'll keep this photo hunt short and sweet...

Answer Key: "defenestrate" -- verb; meaning: to throw out a window.
As a Federal employee, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about being "defenestrated."  However, from the context of the tweet, it seems relatively positive.  So, glad?  Ok, sure.  Let's go with glad.

A big thanks to my friend Becky, who sent me this.  She follows this man on Twitter, which leads me to believe that she knows all 435 representatives by heart.

Photo Hunt Friday

Numbers are fun!  I love thinking about all the ways in which we encounter numbers in our everyday lives.  For example, yesterday I was home with a cold and: watched 6 episodes of "Dance Moms," ate approximately 20 spoonfuls of "cookie butter," and left the apartment exactly 0 times.

It is in the spirit of numbers that I present today's Photo Hunt...

*Answer Key:  if anyone is in the greater DC metropolitan area this weekend, be sure to check out this awesome sale going on at Harris Teeter!  I mean, it's rare to find a wine that usually sells for $8.99, marked down to the low, low price of $9.99.

A big thanks to my friend Andrew, who alerted me to this deal.  He, himself, bought 2 bottles.

Photo Hunt Thursday

Happy Thursday!  In honor of this, the fifth day of the second week of the 2012th year, I present a photo hunt from the news.  I know, I know.  I don't usually get so serious, but let's give this a shot...

* Answer Key: I'm still scratching my head over how a news article about ethnic tensions in Washington, DC ends up with a photo of Banana Republic.

Photo Hunt - Christmas Edition

Merry Christmas to Everyone!!  In honor of this special day, I present a holiday-themed Photo Hunt...

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture? *

* Answer Key: nothing.  In fact, everything in this picture is exactly as it should be.  Receiving 12 Bed Bath & Beyond coupons for Christmas is so, so right.  They never expire!  And there was even one "20% off your entire purchase" coupon tucked in there -- it was a Christmas miracle!  And, the fact that my family knew this was the perfect gift for me?  That's just further proof that I will never have a boyfriend ever they know me too well.

Photo Hunt Monday

I saw this, umm, really elegant and beautiful Christmas decoration at a box-store that shall remain nameless.  This photo hunt might be a little tricky, but what the heck...

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture? *

Answer Key:  nothing.  there is absolutely nothing wrong with this picture whatsoever. I think an animated, inflatable, Santa-in-a-porta-potty represents everything that Christmas is supposed to be about.

A Christmas Miracle!

Remember those awesome white holiday Coke cans that made it nearly impossible to distinguish between Diet and Regular?  Well, today Coca-Cola announced its decision to switch back to the more traditional, red can design.

I'm just going to go ahead and say what we're all thinking -- in all likelihood, this decision was a direct result of my blog entry.  Because I know that, among my viewership -- which now numbers well into the double-digits -- The makers of Coca-Cola, as well as the editors of the Wall Street Journal are probably some of my most frequent readers...

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Photo Hunt Wednesday

I recently purchased a space heater online, because both my office and my core body temperature seem to run cold.  However, there's something strange about this particular space heater...

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture? *

* Answer Key: This is not a space heater, Carrie.  This is a fan.  Which will not solve your problem of being too cold.  In fact, it will make that problem much, much worse.  But don't let that prevent you from opening the box, throwing away the receipt, plugging the fan in, turning it on, and letting it run for a few minutes, because "maybe it needs to warm up?" Then elicit laughter from nearby office-mates when you use curse words they've never heard you use before.

Photo Hunt Friday

The new Coca-Cola winter-themed cans are here!  And just in time for the holidays!  However, I've noticed something strange about this year's designs...

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture? *

* Answer Key: If I accidentally buy one more can of regular Coke because the seasonal can looks exactly like the seasonal Diet Coke can, I am going to write a strongly-worded letter to those polar bears to tell them what's up.  I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who once said "In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death, taxes, and the fact that regular Coke cans are red."

Photo Hunt Thursday

Happy Thursday!  To celebrate this monumental occasion, I went to CVS and found you a really, really sentimental greeting card, straight from the heart, with signatures already included.

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture?

Photo Hunt Thursday *
Photo credit goes, again, to my fake boss. Which makes me wonder why he's at CVS so often.

*Answer Key: now, call me crazy, but if I received a birthday card full of names I didn't recognize, I might start to re-think some things.

Photo Hunt Friday

Fridays are a time for renewed energy and spirit - as the work week winds up, we look excitedly toward weekend adventures ahead!  Fridays are also a time to creepily take your camera into a ladies' restroom, wait until everyone leaves, and then inconspicuously take a photo of the trash can.

Can you spot what's wrong with this picture?

Photo Hunt Friday *

*Answer Key:  Maybe this is an existential question, but how is it possible for a trash can not to "work"?  What components of a hollowed metal box would have to fail in order for it not to hold thin, crumpled sheets of paper towel?

Photo Hunt Thursday

My love of carbonated beverages is no secret.  I drink way too much soda, and I'm positive that when scientists discover aspartame to be a distant cousin of cyanide, I will be the first to go.

BUT STILL.  Today, whilst polishing off my second Diet "Mtn Dew," I noticed something strange about the two bottles.  I should mention that the bottle on the right had a much more respectable expiration date.  Can you spot the difference?...
